Recommend Music for the Film

Music is a huge, huge, huge part of this project. Music is one of my main sources of inspiration, picking out what’s right, I have a feeling, is going to be the hardest part of this film.

I love finding new bands on Virb, MySpace, iLike, mp3-blogs, et cetera.

So, if you know a great indie band, or have a kick-ass song you think would be perfect for Pedal (doesn’t have to be indie, by the way); it would be awesome to hear from you!

Also, I have Peel on almost all day when I’m working/writing/relaxing, so if you have a favorite music blog, email or bookmark the url for us.

If you suggest a song that is used in the final film; we'll add your name to the credits :)

Note: This 'Wish Mix' Last.fm widget had to have 15 playable / preview'able songs in the playlist for the embed option to turn on, so I just added a handful of Sigur Ros to get the ball rolling. As people recommend music that I think fits, I'll add it to the list and eventually take out the filler.

You should check out Speechwriters LLC, they tend to give rights to their music.

going off of what you've used for the episodes so far.. I think anything from Boards of Canada would be my best suggestion and most fitting.

also the songs "make love" from Daft Punk and "Ida, my" by Annuals.

:) hope this helps a little!

@m: Thanks for all the bands :) I've had trouble checking some of them out because my network settings have gone strange :( I can't connect to any p2p networks... my acquisition doesn't work, neither does limewire. But I'll find them!! I dig what I've listened to so far.

@Maggie: Thanks for the recommendations :) I'll track down those bands & songs. I have some Annuals already, but not that song :)

Hey so I've only spent about 2-3 hours on the site so far, but I love the idea and when watching the first few parts of 64 Days, a band immediately came to mind. I found Explosions in the Sky recently and really think that some of their stuff would be great in your movie. Perhaps you don't want to use them because they are too well known, or were already used for "Friday Night Lights," but I figured it couldn't hurt to suggest. I think that lyrics are mostly unnecessary(and often distracting) for your movie, and its hard to find good instrumental bands that will let their sounds and your images speak for themselves. Anyways, I LOVE what you guys have so far, I think it's a great idea, and awesome execution so far.

@Jesse: It's always awesome to hear from new people - I'm super flattered you've been on the site for so long.

I *heart* 'Expositions in the Sky' :) there's still a lot of their stuff thought that I need to listen to. Larry first turned me onto them last summer during the trip.

I would love to have their stuff in the final film, that would be so great. We're they used for the film? Or just the show?

I *am* trying to find a lot of music that has no or very, very little lyrics.

Thanks again for saying so many nice things - it's always encouraging for us.
